Malaysia To Go On The Attack

October 9th, 2008 by admin | Comments Off | Filed in Telephone

COACH Lim Kim Chon has instructed his charges to be sharper and get the goals against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) when the teams meet in an AFC Under-16 final rounds match in Tashkent today.

Malaysia, who lost 4-0 to Japan in their opening match, did well to hold Yeman to a 1-1 draw on Monday.

“We wasted a lot of scoring chances (against Yeman) as we should have equalised before we were awarded the penalty.

“The game was an up and down affair because what we asked the players to do, they didn’t do, while things that we didn’t tell them to do, they did do. But at the end the draw was a satisfactory result,” said Kim Chon by telephone yesterday.

Malaysia have a psychological edge over the UAE after the AFC disciplinary committee awarded Sunday’s match between Yemen and the UAE which ended in a 1-1 stalemate, to Yemen 3-0.
“This was because the UAE had fielded an ineligible player. They were also fined US$4,000 (RM13,992). After being awarded the win, Yemen are second in Group D with four points. Japan lead the table with six points. Malaysia are third with one point.

“We want to win this game as it will be a big morale booster for the players,” added the coach.

IDD Card: Caught Short On Time

October 7th, 2008 by admin | Comments Off | Filed in Telephone

Telekom Malaysia should clarify the limitation on the i-Talk IDD card.

I BOUGHT a Telekom Malaysia i-Talk IDD card a few months ago to make overseas calls.

The instructions at the back of the card said it must be used before November 2008.

I tried to make a call last week but the programmed voice over the telephone said that the card had expired. I called the customer service department to complain.

The officer replied that the user is given six months from the date the card is activated. From the records, she said since the card was activated in March, it had expired at the end of last month.

I protested that since there is no information at the back of the IDD card that mentions the six-month period, how would the customer know about this condition?
The back of the card clearly indicates to use the card before November 2008; as it is only October now, the card should still be valid. I am aggrieved by this omission.

Illegal Posters: Legal Recourse The Best Option

October 7th, 2008 by admin | Comments Off | Filed in Telephone

THE Johor Baru mayor’s appeal to the public (”Help tear down illegal posters, says mayor” — NST, Oct 1) does not seem to be a good idea and I am doubtful he would get any response from the public. Instead, he should take legal action under the existing laws.

As the problem of illegal posters is really one form of vandalism, there must be a law to curb it. This nuisance causes immense problems and confusion to visitors who are unable to trace an address because signboards are plastered with posters, notices, wedding invitations, money-lending and tuition centre advertisements, etc.

Perhaps the local councils should work hand-in-hand with the police by calling the telephone numbers displayed on the posters and then taking action.
