WHERE footwear is concerned, there is more than one way to wear the shoes in advertising campaigns… and Jimmy Choo is known for its glamour and thrill-driven ads, accentuated by powerful accessories.

Jimmy Choo’s Autumn/Winter 2008 advertising campaign is an extension of this philosophy.

Shot by New York-based fashion photographer Terry Richardson (who is renowned for his wildly vivacious work), it features American supermodel, Angela Lindvall.

The images encapsulate the new collection, as worn by a woman who lives the life she dares.
The gilt and marble splendour of the newly renovated Plaza Hotel on Central Park in New York provides the setting for the campaign.

It takes the shape of a montage of “moments”, as seen unfolding in the course of one night.

Each moment sees the label’s Autumn Winter designs as the centrepieces of the action. As Lindvall jumps from curb side to limo, the new soft-structured Lohla-Jayne bag in glossy black python and mid-calf length patent Helena boot are pushed into the fore frame.

Kicked up against the tiles of the hotel bathtub, the dramatic caged Glenys heel in green python is caught.

On the backseat of a limo, the casual luxury of the giant patchwork water snake Saba bag is revealed and against the baroque chair, the boho glam of the beaded fringe suede Bill boot.

She checks her reflection in the elevator, wearing the Harley sunglasses embellished with Swarovski crystal studs on the temples. As the night rolls on the pace is upped, peaking in the revolving door shot.

Lindvall emerges, half seen, clasping the starfish emblazoned star Char clutch and striding out in the Glint - a guillotine toe, rhinestone studded platform bootie. Every piece is seen as an entrance-maker.

The Autumn/Winter 2008 campaign is the first to be produced in collaboration with AR, the NY-based creative agency.

The campaign introduces a new graphic language for Jimmy Choo that captures the cinematic qualities and dynamism of the brand.

Launched in tandem with the campaign is a new marketing initiative, a 48-page perfect-bound magazine featuring images from the campaign alongside exuberant stylised images and collection shots.

“Our collaboration with the exceptional creative talents of Terry Richardson, Angela Lindvall and AR, conveys a new and powerful vision; perfectly capturing the energy and modern spirit of the Jimmy Choo woman for the Autumn/Winter 2008 collection,” said Jimmy Choo president and founder Tamara Mellon. - Compiled by Syida Lizta Amirul Ihsan

Ex-UiTM Dean Jailed, Fined Over Sports Kit That Never Came

October 16th, 2008 by admin | Comments Off | Filed in Sunglasses

SHAH ALAM: A former dean of the Sports Science and Recreation Faculty at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) was calm yesterday despite being sentenced to three years’ jail and fined RM10,000 for falsifying documents.

Wearing his trademark dark blue suit and huge sunglasses as he arrived at court, Datuk Md Saberi Md Salleh, 56 (pictured), even broke into a smile after he was sentenced by the Sessions Court.

Saberi was the dean in 1999 and won many accolades in martial arts locally and internationally. He is also the president of the Global Taekwondo Federation.

Businesswoman, Zaleha Abd Rahman, 47, who was charged with abetting Saberi, was also jailed three years and fined RM10,000.

Both were found guilty by judge Datin Zabariah Mohd Yusof.

She ordered the jail terms to begin from yesterday. If they fail to pay the fine, both accused will serve another three months’ jail.

Saberi was found guilty of falsely acknowledging an invoice dated March 4, 1999, that a unit of ‘Multi-joint 2 AP’ (a sports equipment), which costs RM138,000, had been received by his faculty, knowing that it had not.

Zaleha was the owner of Perniagaan Deeza, which supplied the equipment.

Both offences were committed between March 24 and April 2, 1999, at the Sports Science and Recreation Faculty at UiTM here.

Both the accused posted bail and paid the fine.

Uncertainty About Health Of NKorea’s Leader Persists

October 15th, 2008 by admin | Comments Off | Filed in Sunglasses

SEOUL: Uncertainty about the health of North Korea’s reclusive leader persisted Wednesday after a US defence official said pictures of an apparently healthy Kim Jong-Il do not appear to be recent.

The photographs released on Saturday by official media in the communist state were the first of Kim since mid-August, when he reportedly suffered a stroke.

They showed the 66-year-old inspecting a women’s artillery base, wearing sunglasses and looking as he has in the past with chubby cheeks and bouffant hair. State media gave no date for the visit.

A Seoul intelligence source said Sunday the foliage indicated the pictures were taken before the reported stroke.

“Analysis of the Kim Jong-Il photos shows that given the natural environment displayed in them, they were taken in July or August, although with the year unknown,” the source told Yonhap news agency.

The US defence official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Tuesday that Pentagon analysts had concurred that the dark green background foliage suggested the photographs were taken in July or August - not in the current autumn.

Moreover, it was not clear what year the photographs were taken.

“The biggest key is the vegetation,” the official said, adding that “we see nothing that would dispute what the South Koreans are saying.”

Reports of Kim’s illness surfaced after he failed to appear at the country’s 60th anniversary parade on September 9. South Korean officials said he underwent brain surgery following a stroke around mid-August.

The officials said he is recovering well and is still in control, although other reports have indicated he may have suffered partial paralysis.

State media reported on October 4 that Kim attended a soccer match - but released no photographs of the event, and did not say when it took place.

Kim’s health is the subject of intense speculation since he has not publicly nominated a successor to run the impoverished and nuclear-armed nation.

He officially took over from his father, founding president Kim Il-Sung, in 1997 in the world’s only communist dynastic succession, but is not known to have been grooming any of his own three sons.

A Seoul government source told Yonhap that Saturday’s release of 10 still photographs is apparently intended to show Kim’s regime is “in good shape” at home and abroad.

The North has been monitoring foreign media reports and official television noted Wednesday that foreign media had carried coverage of Kim’s inspection of the artillery unit.

“The release of Kim’s photos aims to calm possible unrest among the North Korean people,” said Yang Moo-Jin, a professor at the University of North Korean Studies in Seoul.

“Kim is undoubtedly sick or at least uncomfortable with appearing in public.”

A website run mainly by North Korean defectors said for the past two months Kim had not given direct instructions to members of various organisations.

The Daily NK, quoting a source from Pyongyang, said rumours of Kim’s ill health were circulating among residents of the capital.

Yang said Kim is still believed to be making decisions on key issues such as military movements and a six-nations disarmament accord.

The North agreed last weekend to resume disabling its nuclear plants after Washington dropped Pyongyang from a terrorism blacklist.

“He is directing such key state issues but he probably cannot afford to give directions on trifling affairs,” Yang told AFP.
